Quick Health Update
Hi y’all … I know most of you have been updated already through my facebook, twitter and as well as on instagram. If you’re not following me yet do it now, so you can catch up to my latest update in real time. Truth be told I actually get to update those social network more often on what’s really going on. As I have shared before on my old blog entries I have tons of plans but seems like I have to “adjust” yet again as I have to keep up with my health. I am not making an excuse for myself or my blog this time. I just want to be healthy and that comes as a priority.
For a few months now I have had this lump/bump on my neck. It all started one day when I saw a tiny little bump just a bit above my right collar bone. I have thought of it as a pimple so I tried squeezing it just in case it is. It didn’t pop and there was no changes. The little bump just turned red and went back to normal hours later. Only to notice 3 weeks later that it started getting bigger. Then around the 3rd month it stopped growing but it is quite bothersome as every time I twist my neck or lean on that neck it kind of hurts. Most likely because the veins are being pushed aside as the bump is about the size of a green pea. Here’s a few pictures to see…
WARNING: GORY PICTURE AHEAD!
The operation took about 45 minutes and I am really grateful and thankful that boyf stayed by my side through it all. He doesn’t like seeing blood and gory stuff so he kept his eyes close as much as he can and positioned himself away from the direction of the doctor and nurse. But he did hold my hand in the process and I tried my best to keep myself together. Yep… I am awake the whole time. The doctor sprayed a freezing stuff on the cyst and around it so my skin won’t feel the poking of the injection all around it to apply the anesthesia. I didn’t have a problem with the poking just the part where the anesthesia started flowing around as it hurts like hell! The burning sensation was traumatizing and hearing the whole process of it didn’t help calm me down. No one would feel calm knowing the doctor is about to cut you up with a scalpel, scrape the skin, cut off and scrape the cyst and so on. ugh. Thank God it went well and it is finally done and over with.

On the way home, boyf’s dad played some country music to help me relax. While boyf’s mom made sure I am comfortable on my seat in the car and that I have a pillow to assist my neck. She even made sure to remind boyf’s dad to drive slowly and take gentle turns so my neck doesn’t take more trauma and jolts from movement. I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful and caring love ones.
Right now as I am writing this, I am quite in terrible pain. The pharmacy wasn’t able to get a hold of my doctor to verify the prescription for the pain reliever as we got there after office hours. I had to settle for motrin and it did help a bit but I can still feel the pain. Since hydrocodone is a controlled substance it can’t be issued with just a prescription, it needs verification too to make sure it was issued correctly. Anyway, I would also like to extend my thanks to all of you who wished me well and prayed for my operation and quick recovery. I appreciate it very much. Til’ next, xox.

Darn. That looked like it hurt a lot. What kind of tumor/ cyst was it? Did they tell you? And why did the surgery hurt? The surgeon was supposed to give you adequate anesthesia during the procedure – there’s no excuse for pain! :/
Anyway, Stef here. I’m blogging mostly about cancer so when I saw this, I got curious. 🙂
