From the Author of ACHICDIRECTION- if your having trouble blocking colors try complimentary color blocking. Why? Complimentary colors are natural opposites so they work very well together.

Basic color blocking can be achieved by referencing color combination with a color wheel. This way it is easier to determine which color best goes with what. For kicking it up a notch then try mixing a regular shade to a vivid version. Check out the wheel below.
