6 Everyday Things That Lead to Pimples

There’s a general consensus about what causes acne, but preventing it isn’t quite so easy. It’s not just something that affects teenagers, there are plenty of adults who suffer with acne-prone skin too. It’s a biological problem, but there are emotional factors at play. And it’s not just about just finding the perfect products, acne is affected by the way you treat your body overall. In short, there are no easy answers but you improve your chances for clear skin when you take a variety of elements into account. The fact is there are several everyday things that might be contributing to your skin problems. It’s important to get a handle on each one individually, while coming up with an overall approach to fight acne on a daily basis.
Oily Skin – this is a frustrating problem, even if you aren’t suffering from acne. Oily skin can leave a person with an uncomfortable feeling that gets worse as the day goes on. In order to combat oily skin, a good toner is your best friend. There are also handy wipes that you can use to get rid of excess oil. Just remember that producing oil is something that your skin does naturally, and you need to have a certain amount to keep your skin healthy.
Dryness – on the opposite end of the scale, we have dry skin. Dry skin can lead to more dead skin cells that clog up your pores, especially if you have oily areas as well. The best way to combat dry skin is by using a non-greasy moisturizer in addition to drinking plenty of water. And when it comes to hydration, sticking with good old fashioned water is your best bet. Beverages like coffee, soft drinks, or sports drinks are loaded with sugar, and that won’t do you skin any favors.
Touching your face – you probably don’t realize it, but you touch your face hundreds of times each day. It’s a matter of simple human nature, but it’s important to get a handle on it. Touching your face can lead to spreading bacteria or aggravating particularly sensitive areas. Sometimes you have to really pay attention, but try to keep your hands away from your face is much as possible.
Popping – one thing that touching leads to is popping if you’re not careful. Sometimes people obsess over their acne while looking into the mirror. This leads to touching, probing, and the eventual temptation to pop those pimples away. This is one of the worst things you can do for your skin because it’s only a temporary solution. While you might be able to get rid of a pimple on a short-term basis, you could have a major outbreak in the exact same area a few weeks down the line.
Washing – you obviously need to maintain a good washing routine to get rid of dirt and oil that builds up during the day. But if you go overboard, you could inadvertently make your skin more susceptible to pimples. A lot of people make the mistake of using cleanser that’s way too powerful, or an exfoliating product that strips the skin of a vital oil and moisture. You should also avoid using hot water because they can do a lot more damage than good.
A sedentary lifestyle – doing nothing for your skin isn’t going to help, and doing nothing at all is even worse. It’s important to remember that your body functions as a whole, and your skin is only one part of it. You need to maintain a healthy diet, and make sure that your body is as active as possible. The process of sweating and getting good circulation to your skin cells is vitally important for healthy skin. So make sure that you take care of other areas of your life while eating right, sleeping well, and reducing stress whenever possible.
