Most effective ways to change your body shape
In a body conscious era, it’s hard not to be plagued by grass is always greener syndrome. While our body shape comes purely down to genetics (thanks Mum and Dad), we can’t help but feel the desire to achieve the opposite of what Mother Nature gave us. Woman blessed with curly locks will go to great lengths to iron out their tresses, while those of us with smaller breasts dream of investing in cosmetic surgery for woman to create a curvaceous appearance.
While we wax, spray, curl and pluck our bodies into works of art, is it possible to completely change our body shapes? The short answer to this is no. But before you give up hope, there are ways to (forgive me for saying this) work what your Mama gave you. Here are some tips to improve your shape.
Catering Style to Suit Your Shape
I’m going to say what everyone is already thinking: Girls, whether you are stick thin or have a behind that’s enviable by Nicki Minaj, you do not, I repeat, do not look good in those nappy shorts that show off half your bum. Now that’s out of the way, let’s talk about catering your clothing to suit your style. This is all about accentuating your best features and using clothes to give the illusion of a different shape. For those who have an hourglass figure, you will benefit from dresses that cinch in at the waist, creating the appearance of a slimmer waistline. If you are pear shaped, an a-line skirt will take the attention away from wider hips. Or if you have a small chest, focus on shirts with details like ruffles and collars to flatter this area.
Posture
Maintaining good posture not only has a myriad of healthy mind and body benefits, but when practiced correctly, it can take at least five kilos off your frame. Take note: you’re not actually losing any weight by standing up straight. When you slouch, your frame bunches together forcing your stomach to stick out making you look larger than you actually are. By putting those shoulders back, your stomach flattens, your muscles tighten and your figure appears more elongated.
Targeted Exercise
Changing your body through exercise is achievable but it will take time and dedication. While a regular workout will help you lose a lot of fat and build lean muscle, adopting a targeted exercise regime will help you tackle those problem areas. The key is to choose a regime that will help you balance out your natural proportion.
Cosmetic Surgery
Once an unachievable dream, the promise of everlasting youth is a reality for those willing to go under the knife. Whether you want your body to be nipped, tucked, filled or frozen, cosmetic surgery gives woman a newly acquired sense of self confidence through the improvement of their features. You may have heard the horror stories and perhaps fear you might be the victim of the dreaded Tori Spelling breast or Michael Jackson nose, but rest assured, innovative technology trends focus on less invasive techniques to give you the body you desire.
